Have You Seen It?

June 2, 2008

So we drive by this place all the time and see everyone having a blast, and we finally went on Sunday after church. Duncan Creek Park in Buford is open!!! We didn’t stay long, since we weren’t really prepared for the stop, but the kids played for a half-hour or so. There is a VERY large playground that has play areas for all ages, toddler to tweener. There is a big sand area with sand tables and diggers. There is a covered sitting area in the center of the play area for parents to sit and watch. There are new and unique swings and see-saws and spinning seats and climbing apparatus. Grady enjoyed the cool new slide.

One of the highlights of the park that makes it unique is the skate park that is comprised of concrete ramps and bowls that allow bikers and skaters to show off their skills. Next to that is the largest collection of lighted basketball and sand volleyball courts I have seen at any park. It’s pretty cool just to watch all the action go down.

If you haven’t been yet, what are you waiting for?!? Check it out.

Like father?

May 28, 2008

This boy can eat! We grilled out on my day off last week. Lunch outside has kinda become a family tradition. Our house backs up to a copse of trees that is nice and breezy, very relaxing and, evidently, full of snakes. (More on that later!) I grilled some burgers and dogs. We were finishing up lunch and Grady had not eaten very much of his food, which is very unlike him. He noticed a burger still sitting on the plate for Rene that she had not eaten yet. After a little prompting on his part, we decided to give it to him and see what he could do with the thing. Result:

That boy can pack away a burger. He gave up after half, but what an effort! It was one of those moments every father lives for…our first hamburger. I was quite proud!

The Bathroom?

May 27, 2008

So Rene and I were out on Date Night last Friday. We had dinner and went to B & N to relax, read and get a little coffee. While browsing for a book to read, I get a text from the sitter. It says this:

“Garrett said the funniest thing about you by the way…he said, ‘daddy says I can only pick my nose in the bathroom.’”

This is true. We like to dig. Inappropriately. Everywhere. So we made a rule that you can only pick your nose in the bathroom. It makes sense, we just didn’t expect it to be made public. Oops.

Memorial Day

May 27, 2008

We went and spent Memorial Day at Stone Mountain Park. Tiring does not even begin to describe it. Nor does fun. A blast was had by all!

We rode the train around the mountain…

…and took the skylift to the top, where some strange man took this shot for us.

We left around 10:30 and got the kids in bed around 11:15. That made for a long, long day. But well worth it!

Tee-Ball Surprise

May 20, 2008

We just finished our T-ball season on Saturday. Garrett surprised us all by turning around and crushing the ball as a lefty the last couple of games. Who knew?  Notice the concentration and, of course, the tongue.
